Oriental Cockroach

Oriental Cockroach Oriental cockroach, also known as the Waterbug, is a large species of cockroach of dark brown to black colour. It is commonly found in Britain.

The oriental cockroach travels somewhat very slowly than the other cockroach species. This species prefers to dark and moist places. They can often be found around decaying organic matters, and in sewers, drains, damp basements, porches and other damp location. 

Biology: A female cockroach produces a complicated egg-contained structure called an oothecae(case). An oothecae contains a variable number of 16 to 18 eggs. The blackish brown ootheca of oriental cockroaches is 10 - 12mm long, and they hatch in about 42 days at 29.5°C and in 81 days at 21 °C. 

Diseases: An Oriental Cockroach is known to carry and spead human diseases such as Salmonella and gastroenteritis by contaminating our food and liquid for consumption.
